Che Guevara is an iconic figure of the twentieth century His life and works are steeped in mystery, charisma, and revolutionary fervor. Che, as he was fondly referred to, was an Argentine-born physician and guerrilla leader who played a crucial role in the Cuban Revolution of 1959. A Marxist revolutionary, Che was a symbol of anti-imperialism and anti-capitalist sentiment during the Cold War era.
Che was born Ernesto Guevara de la Serna in 1928. He attended medical school in Buenos Aires and during his medical studies, traveled and experienced poverty in Latin America. This fueled his leftist views and distaste for colonial power. He organized armed rebellions in Latin America, foremost in Cuba. As a leader of the Cuban Revolution, his “guerilla warfare” tactics and ferocious determination were instrumental in the overthrow of Fulgencio Batista, the Cuban dictator.
Che was also a prolific writer, penning several books, including ‘The Motorcycle Diaries’ and ‘Guerrilla Warfare.’ He wrote extensively about his experiences and political views, something that further fueled his cult-like status.
Che was not without his critics, however. It is important to note that his ideas and actions were highly controversial and also dangerous. He is often seen as a polarizing figure of the 20th century, but nonetheless a symbol of revolution and idealism in the fight for social justice.

4. He was a great advocate of solidarity and unity. Che believed in creating strong relationships between the oppressed and the oppressors, to make a better future for all. He was also a great believer in the concept of mutual-aid and believed in taking care of one another in times of need.
5. Finally, Che was a great believer in equality and democracy. He believed in creating a fairer society where everyone had their voice heard. He believed in abolishing racism, classism, and discrimination and believed that the working class should have the same rights and privileges as the wealthy.
