Hardware is the collection of physical components -- including metal, plastic, and circuit boards -- used to build computer networks and devices Examples of hardware include hard drives, memory (RAM), motherboards, graphics cards, CPU (central processing unit), cooling fans, and more. As technology advances, the types of hardware needed to build networks and devices is continuously evolving. One of the best examples of hardware is the hard drive. This is a storage device used to store data. Hard drives come in two forms: internal and external. Internal hard drives are typically connected directly to the computer, while external hard drives are connected to the computer through a USB connection. Hard drives come in several different sizes and capacities, ranging from gigabytes to terabytes. Another example of hardware is RAM (Random Access Memory). RAM is a type of memory used to store data temporarily while a computer is running. It is often used in combination with the CPU to allow for faster processing. RAM comes in different sizes, ranging from kilobytes to gigabytes, depending on the user's needs. Cooling fans are another example of hardware. Cooling fans are used to keep temperatures within the computer low, helping to prevent damage to internal components. They come in various sizes, speeds, and power ratings. GPUs (graphics processing units) are another type of hardware. GPUs are used to generate high-quality graphics that can be used in gaming and multimedia applications. They come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, and often require additional cooling solutions to keep them running properly. Lastly, CPUs (central processing units) are a type of hardware used to execute instructions and perform calculations. A CPU is typically considered to be the 'engine' of a computer, as it is the most important component in a system. CPUs come in different speeds and power ratings, and are usually made up of multiple cores. All of these components work together to create a functioning computer. Without them, our modern-day technology would be unable to function. By understanding how these components work and interact with one another, we can better understand how computers and networks operate.
