A nursery school is a preschool educational establishment for children between the ages of three and five years old It is often known as a “playgroup” or a “kindergarten”. Its main purpose is to prepare young children for primary school, by introducing them to basic skills such as numbers, shapes, colours, and letters. It can also provide them with their first social experiences, as they interact with other children, and with adults from outside the home. The best examples of nursery school activities are: 1. Creative play – this usually consists of activities such as painting, play-doh, and other creative activities. These encourage children to use their imaginations and become immersed in their playtime. 2. Story time – this activity introduces children to stories and helps them develop a love for books and reading. 3. Outdoor play – this activity helps children become familiar with their outdoor environment, and teaches them how to socialise with other children. 4. Music – this activity teaches children new songs, and encourages them to explore different rhythms and beats. 5. Art and craft – this activity provides children with an opportunity to express themselves through art, and also helps them to develop their hand-eye coordination. Nursery schools are a great way to introduce young children to the world of learning and education. They provide the perfect environment for children to develop their social skills, explore their creativity and imagination, and build the foundations to become capable, confident and independent learners.
