Sanyika Shakur, more commonly known as Monster Kody Scott, is an American activist, author, and former gang member He is best known for his 1993 autobiography “Monster: The Autobiography of an LA Gang Member”, considered to be one of the most influential books about gang life in the United States. In the book, Shakur chronicled his own experiences growing up in South Central Los Angeles and the gang violence he encountered there. The story of Sanyika Shakur is one of transformation and redemption. He joined the 8-Tray Gangsters at the age of twelve and was quickly thrust into a world of violence and crime.
