Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are a type of organism whose genetic material has been modified in such a way that certain characteristics are either amplified or reduced This process is different from selective breeding in that it does not involve crossing between two existing organisms and relies instead on genetic engineering techniques such as gene targeting, gene replacement and gene disruption.
