The Opinion of the Christians on the Controversial Cultural Issues of Gay Marriage and Sex Culture in the Book Good Faith by David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons
LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) Issues refers to the issues, challenges, discrimination and violence that members of the LGBT community have or may encounter in their lives LGBT Issues can include civil rights issues such as marriage equality, employment discrimination, adoption rights, and access to health care, as well as social stigmatization, peer pressure, and hate crimes.
Here are five examples of LGBT Issues that are currently happening in society:
1. Marriage Equality: The struggle for the right of same-sex couples to marry is one of the major LGBT issues of our time. Same-sex couples still aren’t allowed to marry in many countries around the world, including the US, where same-sex marriage is legally recognized in some states but not others.
2. Employment Discrimination: LGBT individuals often face discrimination in the workplace due to their sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. This can range from direct discrimination, such as being denied job opportunities or promotions, to indirect discrimination such as workplace harassment and a hostile work environment.
3. Adoption Rights: LGBT individuals and couples have long been denied the right to adopt children in certain states, even though there is no evidence suggesting that same-sex couples are any less capable of parenting than heterosexual couples. This has resulted in LGBT individuals and couples being denied the same adoption rights as heterosexual couples, a practice that is still prevalent in some states.
4. Access to Health Care: LGBT individuals often face difficulty accessing quality health care due to discrimination from medical providers and a lack of insurance that covers their health care needs. This can be especially true for transgender individuals who are often denied access to gender-affirming treatments and surgeries, even though they can be medically necessary.
5. Social Stigmatization: LGBT individuals often face social stigmatization in the form of bullying, verbal harassment, and ridicule. This can cause them to suffer from mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, and can even lead to self-harm and suicide.
