Mary Wortley Montagu (1689-1762) was an English aristocrat and writer whose works continue to influence society today She is widely considered to be one of the most important female figures of the 18th century, and her writings and social commentary have been highly influential in the development of modern thought. Mary Wortley Montagu was born into a wealthy family and was well-educated. She married Edward Wortley Montagu and was the mother of five children.
