In a digital age, the power of media ownership can be immense, framing and defining both public opinion and politics. The top five examples of media ownership are as follows: 1.Billionaire Rupert Murdoch owns a significant portion of the world’s media outlets. Through his media conglomerate, News Corporation, he has control over twenty-five newspapers in the United States, including The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post. In Britain, his News International owns The Sun, The Times, and The Sunday Times. 2.The Walt Disney Company is one of the most influential media owners in the world. Through its acquisition of Marvel, the company has control over many of the biggest superhero franchises, including The Avengers and Spider-Man. Furthermore, the company has its own television networks, including the ABC Group, and owns the popular ESPN and ABC News channels. 3.Viacom is one of the biggest media owners, controlling many of the leading cable and broadcast networks. Its portfolio includes MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, and Paramount Pictures. The company also owns networks such as BET and VH1. 4.Comcast is another major media owner with a wide array of assets. Its holdings include NBCUniversal, which has control over many of the leading US broadcast networks. The company also has a huge cable network, including NBC, USA Network, and CNBC. 5.Time Warner is another giant media company. Through its subsidiaries, it has control over a vast number of popular channels, including HBO, CNN, TNT, and Cartoon Network. Additionally, Time Warner owns Warner Brothers Pictures, one of the most successful studios in Hollywood. It also owns DC Comics.
