The Oklahoma City bombing was a domestic terrorist attack which occurred on April 19, 1995 at the Alfred P Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. It was the deadliest terrorist attack in American history, with 168 people killed, including 19 children, and 600 injured. The bomber, anti-government extremist Timothy McVeigh, planned and carried out the bombing in revenge for the government's handling of the stand-off with the Branch Davidian cult group in Waco, Texas in April 1993. McVeigh was convicted in 1997 and executed in June of 2001.
