What is Pizarro?
Pizarro is a Spanish explorer and conquistador who is credited with the conquest of the Inca Empire in Peru in 1532-1533 He was born in Trujillo, Spain in 1475 and is the first European explorer to reach South America. He earned a reputation for his leading role in the conquest of the Inca Empire by establishing a small group of Spaniards against larger forces.
Throughout his life, Pizarro was a daring, courageous and frequently ruthless explorer who sought glory and wealth. He was also well-known for his cruelty and mistreatment of the native peoples he encountered.
In 1532, Pizarro and 168 of his men first captured the Inca emperor Atahualpa and held him ransom. After Atahualpa's death, Pizarro and his men continued to take control of the Inca Empire, ultimately leading to its complete collapse and Spanish colonization of Peru.
