What is Robotics (Intelligent Autonomous Systems)? Robotics (intelligent autonomous systems) are machines that are designed to interact with and work alongside humans, with the capability to sense, act, and think in a very intelligent manner In other words, robotics refers to machines that are programmed to think and plan for themselves, as well as interact with humans and the environment around them. As compared to traditional machines, a robot is autonomous, meaning it does not need to be manually programmed. Robots are becoming increasingly popular in a variety of fields, from manufacturing to healthcare, and their potential for automation has made them invaluable in a wide range of industries. Robots are typically controlled by a set of easier-to-understand instructions called algorithms. These algorithms are created by programmers and robot makers to tell the robot what to do. A robot’s intelligence is based on its ability to recognize its environment and its ability to respond to changes in its environment. For example, a robot may be able to recognize an object, such as a box, and its ability to interact with it, such as by opening it. Additionally, a robot can also be programmed to make decisions based on the data it receives, as well as its own built-in logic. The field of robotics is rapidly advancing, and the potential of robots is growing at an incredible rate. Robotics technology has the potential to revolutionize virtually every industry, from healthcare to manufacturing, and to even make everyday life much easier. Five Examples of Recent Robotics Technology 1. Self-Driving Cars: Self-driving cars are becoming increasingly popular, with many companies already developing and selling this type of technology. Self-driving cars are equipped with sensors and artificial intelligence (AI) technology, allowing them to navigate traffic, detect obstacles, and even apply brakes in emergency situations. Tesla, Waymo, and Uber are just some of the popular manufacturers of self-driving cars. 2. Drones: Drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), are remote-controlled aircraft that can be used for surveillance, photography, transport, and other applications. Thanks to their small size and low cost, drones are becoming increasingly popular for personal use, as well as for commercial applications. Drones can be equipped with cameras, sensors, and other devices to help them navigate and complete tasks. 3. Autonomous Robots: Autonomous robots are robots that can make decisions without human input. Autonomous robots are often used in warehouses, factories, and other settings to perform repetitive tasks, such as picking and packing products, or cleaning floors. They are also being increasingly used in healthcare, with robots helping to diagnose and treat patients. 4. Augmented Reality: Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that overlays digital information on top of a user's real-world environment. AR is used in a wide range of applications, including gaming, entertainment, education, and navigation. Augmented reality can be used to provide users with more information about their surroundings and can even be used to provide interactive experiences. 5. AI-powered Assistants: AI-powered assistants, such as Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa, use artificial intelligence to recognize natural language, understand the context of conversations, and provide answers to user questions. These assistants are becoming increasingly popular, as they make it easier for users to get things done quickly, such as setting reminders, playing music, and even making purchases.
