The Land of Sad Oranges is an urban legend that originated in the late 19th century in Portugal It refers to a mythical, hidden city somewhere in the mountains of Portugal where an abundant amount of oranges grow. The legend says that the oranges are not sweet, but instead very sour, giving the impression that life in the city is miserable and gloomy. With help from a witch, they manage to break the curse and the princess is freed. 5. The Tale of the Golden Oranges: This is the most contemporary story about the Land of Sad Oranges. It tells the story of a prince and princess from different lands who have to come together to break the curse. With help from the magical golden oranges, they manage to defeat the curse and restore happiness to the people of the city.
