Us foreign policy is the foreign policy of the United States of America that is guided by the US federal government and administered through the Department of State and other agencies US foreign policy is based on a set of core values, including democracy, freedom, human rights, international law, respect for sovereignty, and free markets. This core set of values is applied through a range of strategic, diplomatic, economic, and military actions in pursuit of US interests, both domestically and abroad. 1. Iran: In 2015, negotiations between the US, five world powers and Iran ended in a historic deal that limits the country’s nuclear program. The US has since implemented and enforced the agreement, which has helped set the stage for a gradual rapprochement between the two countries. 2. Cuba: In 2014, the Obama Administration began to normalize diplomatic relations with Cuba after more than 50 years of a US economic embargo and no relations. The move was made possible by a series of diplomatic discussions, the restart of direct mail service, the reopening of the US Embassy in Havana, and the easing of restrictions on trade and travel between the two countries. 3. Syria: US foreign policy in Syria has been focused on promoting an end to the conflict there and supporting the creation of a viable, peaceful and democratic Syria. This includes diplomatic efforts to negotiate ceasefires, sanctions against the Assad regime, and support for international efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the Syrian people. 4. North Korea: As tensions between the US and North Korea have increased, US foreign policy has focused on the use of “maximum pressure” to push the country towards peacefully denuclearizing the Korean peninsula. This has included tightening economic and diplomatic sanctions, as well as engaging in negotiations with the North Korean government. 5. Afghanistan: US foreign policy in Afghanistan has centered on supporting the Afghan government as it works to build a stable and secure nation. The US has provided military and economic support to the Afghan government, while also working to secure a peaceful resolution to the conflict between the Taliban and the Afghan government.
