Key Stage (KS) is a term used within the education system in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to describe the different stages of a student's education from the ages of 4 to 16 The concept of Key Stage was developed to provide a framework to measure a child's learning and academic progress over the years. Key Stage 4 covers the final two years of a student’s compulsory education, from when they are aged 14-16.
