Symptoms of anxiety disorders can include restlessness, sleeping difficulties, difficulty concentrating, and difficulty controlling worries. Mood Disorders Mood disorders, also known as affective disorders, are characterized by a persistent emotion or mood that results in impairment. This can include a sustained period of depression, mania, or both. Symptoms of mood disorders can include feelings of sadness or hopelessness, feelings of irritability or anger, difficulty sleeping, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, and difficulty concentrating. Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) ADHD is a common disorder characterized by impulsivity, hyperactivity, and the inability to concentrate for extended periods of time. Schizophrenia Schizophrenia is a chronic mental health condition that impacts a person’s ability to think clearly and interact socially. It is characterized by delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, and bizarre behavior. Symptoms of schizophrenia can include hearing voices, paranoia, difficulty expressing emotion, and the belief that others are out to get them. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) PTSD is an anxiety disorder that often develops after a person has experienced a traumatic experience. Symptoms of personality disorders can include difficulty controlling emotions, difficulty forming relationships, feel detached from reality, difficulty understanding others’ perspectives, and difficulty expressing love.
